My Story

What's my story? An ordinary one.

I'm a pretty average person. I go about my business - working part time, raising a family. I face similar struggles to many - stretching the budget, finding enough hours in the day to get everything done, pondering the big and little questions in life (one scoop of ice cream, or the whole pint?).

I am an average person who is determined to make a difference.

I am an average slightly overweight, 42 year old mum of three who loves her family, friends...

I am an average person who is determined to make a difference.

I am an average slightly overweight, 42 year old mum of three who loves her family, friends and food.

I am also taking on the challenge of running my first marathon at Canberra, raising funds and much needed awareness to the work of Beyond Blue.

Beyond Blue is an independent, not for profit organisation offering information, and support to those millions of Australians who at some stage in their lives struggle with depression and/or anxiety. You may think I am exaggerating with those figures, but unfortunately statistics do not lie: 1 in 5 women and 1 in 8 men will experience depression in their lifetime. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety.

Please support me, an ordinary 42 year old woman, as I prepare to run an extraordinary 42km on behalf of Beyond Blue.

This will be beyond tough. It will be life changing. Change lives too by donating to Beyond Blue.

Most people in Australia have been affected by anxiety and depression in some way, whether through personal experience or through family, friends or work colleagues. In any one year, around 1 million adults in Australia experience depression and over 2 million experience anxiety.

By joining or supporting Team beyondblue you're helping to improve the lives of millions of Australians affected by depression, anxiety and suicide.

This year, we’re aiming to raise more than $45,000 in the Australian Running Festival! These funds will help us to deliver our 24/7 phone and online Support Service (which provided advice, support and hope to 170,000 people in 2015); innovate and deliver new services and programs; distribute free information resources and share powerful stories of hope and recovery across Australia; roll out evidence-based campaigns; fund world-leading research and advocate for all people in Australia affected by depression, anxiety and suicide.

Without you, we couldn’t do the work that we do. Thank you so much for your support.

All the best for your training! Don’t forget to #teambeyondblue on social media so we can see you in action!
